Jim Sheridan’s Brothers, an American remake of Susanne Bier’s 2004 film Brödre, opens Stateside on December 4th. Starring Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, the film is produced by veteran Icelandic producer Sigurjón Sighvatsson, along with Ryan Kavanaugh and Michael De Luca. The film, already being mentioned as a candidate for the upcoming Oscars, gets a glowing review from Screendaily’s Mike Goodridge. He writes:

“Brothers is that rare animal, a US remake of a fine foreign language film which works on both a creative and thematic level in its conversion to an American setting.”
