On the road again: A still from The Ring II.

Filmmaker Eysteinn Gudni Gudnason has remade The Circle (Hringurinn), Fridrik Thor Fridriksson’s conceptual film from 1985. Fridriksson’s film was a stop-motion movie where a a camera placed on a car’s roof recorded a frame every twelve meters, as the car drove clockwise around Iceland’s Highway One (The Circle Road). Gudnason’s film repeats this but goes in the opposite direction and uses two cameras, one pointing forward and the other one backwards.

The film, entitled The Circle II, will premiere in downtown Reykjavik tomorrow. The screening venue is a big wall on the building where the filmmaker lives.
