Cameron Bailey, co-director of the Toronto International Film Festival, will take on jury duties at the upcoming Reykjavik International Film Festival (Sept. 23-Oct. 3). RIFF director Hrönn Marinósdóttir says in a statement that “his arrival is not only a great benefit for our festival but also for the Icelandic film community. Icelandic filmmakers will have an opportunity to meet with the director of one of the largest and most prestigious film festivals in the world. I hope they will jump at the chance.”
The RIFF jury selects the winner of The Golden Puffin (Discovery of the Year). Last year’s award went to 20 year old director and last year’s Director’s Fortnight winner Xavier Dolan for his debut film, I Killed My Mother (J´ai Tué Ma Mère).
Toronto has for years been a great platform for Icelandic films in North America. Last year Dagur Kári’s The Good Heart had its world premiere at the festival.
