
Thór and his trusted friend Crusher hammer the South Korean box office last weekend.
It’s the little film that could: Legends of Valhalla: Thor, the 3D animation film from Iceland’s Caoz Studios took the number 4 spot at the South Korean Box Office this weekend, grossing an excellent $1.6m on 382 screens. One of the largest film markets in the world and one of the few markets were local fare regularly trumps Hollywood product, this must count as a very respectable international bow for the $12m production, the most expensive Icelandic film ever made.
Outperforming Hollywood competiton Happy Feet 2 by a wide margin and also beating Spielberg’s War Horse and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy which opened on the same day, the film was seen by over 200.00 people on the weekend. The film was pre-sold to around 60 countries by sales agent Telepool and is expected to roll out in most territories in the coming weeks and months.
